Job Description:
Under supervision of the Operations Manager, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks, peripheral equipment; assesses user training needs and trains users in effective use of applications; makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepares documentation and provides user assistance to MCF staff; and performs related work as required. Class Characteristics: An essential element of this classification is the provision of prompt and effective problem-solving and troubleshooting to MCF participants and staff when system failures or dysfunctions occur.
EXAMPLES OF KEY DUTIES (Duties are illustrative and not inclusive and may vary with individual assignment.):
- Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages
- May modify specific applications for use in operational departments
- Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware
- Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems
- Make repairs and corrections where required
- Act as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data
- Make hardware and software
- Assist in instructing MCF staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management
- Provide instruction or written documentation where required
- Assist with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems
- Maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level

Requirements: College diploma or university degree or I.T. related experience and knowledge. Creative, Flexible, and able to work with timelines and in a team environment. Good communication and organization skills. Physical ability to complete the work, including crawling under desks and lifting up to 40 pounds.
